I joined Millstream as a Procurement Portals Customer Support Advisor in 2011 having graduated in 2009 with a BA (Hons) in Law from Stirling University.
Having completed his Masters degree (LLM) in Public Procurement Law & Policy, our Managing Director Tim suggested it may be a course that would be of
interest – and great benefit – to us.
As procurement was quite new to me, I was keen to increase my knowledge of this niche industry. I applied successfully to Nottingham University and
was invited to start my studies in September last year.
Millstream have been very supportive during what has been a very busy year of studying. They covered the cost of my tuition fees and also sent me down
to Nottingham for the four intensive teaching weekends I had to attend as part of the course.
As well as much-needed financial support, Millstream have also let me attend relevant conferences and events as well as providing additional support and
advice when needed, which has further helped my understanding of procurement rules and regulations. I still have another year and my dissertation to complete, but it is
reassuring to know that you have a supportive company right behind you, who will do their best to help you achieve your goals.

"I started employment at Millstream Associates as a Placement student in my third year of Law and Management at the Robert Gordon University.
During my time as a placement student I worked in the Portals department, dealing with e-procurement publishing tenders onto government websites
and sending tenders to the Official Journal of the EU ensuring that they comply with timescales and certain thresholds. This involved liaising
with public sector bodies such as regional and local councils, Scottish Government and suppliers registered to the procurement websites via
e-mails and telephone calls.
Being selected to work for Millstream as a Placement student helped enhance my communication
skills in a professional manner in writing and orally, work successfully under pressure, and to carry out duties accurately within certain deadlines.
After completing my 15 weeks placement at Millstream I was kept on as a part-time member of staff. After completing year three of Law and Management I
transferred over to LLB Law and Millstream were very understanding and flexible with regard to the dates that I was available to work.
Although Millstream is a small company, it is growing and is in a very niche market. I would recommend any student to apply for a position with
Millstream if they are seeking a career in procurement or for experience."
